Cattle prices in the province were mostly down last week. The cattle market update from Canfax for the week ending October 4th shows prices were down in the 6-to-7, 7-8, and 8-9 hundred pound feeder steer categories.

Many regions experienced their first frost during the overnight hours on Oct. 3 to 4. Canola harvest is nearing completion and is estimated to be 94% complete across the province.

Last year's Canadian Western Agribition created lots of positive economic activity for the province. Agribition shared stats from an economic impact study conducted by Praxis Consulting. It showed the 2023 event generated $116.

Prices for Saskatchewan Feeder Steers and Heifers were up in the latest Cattle Market Update for the week ending September 27th. Steer prices were available in every category except for the 300-400 pound category. Those prices ranged from $306.

A group lobbying for cattle producers in the province sent a letter to the Saskatchewan Party and the NDP, asking for each political party's stance on various issues affecting the beef industry.
