H5N1 avian flu has been detected for the first time in a pig. The US Department of Agriculture says it was in a pig on a backyard farm in Oregon.

Prices for most feeder steers and feeder heifers in Saskatchewan continued to go up. In the Cattle Market Update for the week ending October 25th, prices for feeder steers ranged from the low end of $309.
