Environment Canada's weather stats for the month of August suggest weather in the province last month was warmer than normal but had its fair share of rain.
Christy Climenhaga with the weather office says most of last month was warm compared to historical averages.
"It was a warmer than normal August for most areas, especially if you had looked towards northern Saskatchewan," says Climenhaga, "other areas, you know, not quite the same degree of warmth, but it was generally warmer than normal for most regions."

She says the first few weeks of August had normal temperatures before the last two or three weeks were more varied with stretches of hot and cool weather.
"We had kind of a little bit of a more normal start to the month, temperatures hovering right around normal and then a cooler spell in the middle of the month towards (August 14 and 15) and another little cool dip between (August 22 and 24), but otherwise warmer conditions, especially at the end of August we had quite a warm spell of weather taking us right into the first day of September." she said.
Rain was also variable with areas in the north and southwest had more than 100 per cent of normal rainfall, while Regina and Moose Jaw was on the drier side last month.
"Areas like La Ronge, much wetter than normal...94.2 millimeters of rain in La Ronge when you should see about 65.3. But then on the other side of that, Regina seeing less than half of its normal precipitation for the month of August, you saw 23.8 millimeters in Regina when you should see 50.1, and then Swift Current seeing quite a bit of rain too, 97.6 millimeters of rain in August when you should see 48, so over double their normal."

Hail was also reported from tennis ball size west of Torquay on August 8, to golf ball size in the Aquadeo area and egg size in the Marsden area in the northwest on August 18. Climenhaga says August 20 stands out.
"There was quite a bit of activity throughout the province. We did see a lot of large hail reports in Saskatchewan from Langham, Radisson, North Battleford, Mendham, very strong wind gusts as well in areas like North Battleford, Kindersley, Leader, so it was a very potent thunderstorm day."
She says there was reports of crop damage in those areas on August 20.
