Crop yields in Alberta expected to be down from 5-year average: Alberta Agriculture

Alberta Agriculture expects crop yields this year will be down about 15% from the 5 year average. 

For spring wheat, the average dryland yield estimate for this year is 38.9 bushels per acre, down from the 5 year average of 46.1. 

Barley yields are expected to be just under 55 bushels an acre, down about 5 bushels from the 5 year average.

For canola,  Alberta Agriculture estimates farmers will get just over 32 bushels an acre, down from the 5 year average of 37.6. 

And dry peas in Alberta are expected to yield 34.5 bushels an acre.  The 5 year average is 38.3.
