YORKTON — It was one more big show for 4-H members across Saskatchewan as they travelled to Yorkton for the weekend.
The city was host to the second annual Provincial 4-H beef show.
“We just got it going last year,” Ashley L'Henaff, North Regional 4-H Specialist told Yorkton This Week, explaining youth involved with 4-H beef projects were seeking “one more opportunity to bring out their project.”
The show brings together the top females from some 20 regional beef shows held in Saskatchewan, said L'Henaff, noting of course champion steers from the shows have already been marketed.
In Yorkton that still meant some 70 head of cattle from around 55 4-H members representing 20 clubs took part, said L'Henaff.
Over the weekend 4-H members took part in various activities such as judging stock and grooming, in addition to heifer and cow/calf classes in the show ring in front of judges Kodie Doetzel of Lipton and Olivia Woytiuk of Shell Lake.
