NORQUAY — Prairie Soil Services Ltd. has announced that ProSoils Inc., headquartered in Rose Valley, has acquired all the shares of Prairie Soil Services Ltd. effective July 1.
Prairie Soil Services Ltd. has five ag retail locations near the communities of Norquay, Canora, Sturgis, Rokeby, and Kamsack, and has specialized in providing crop nutrient products to their customers. With the acquisition of PSSL, ProSoils will operate 11 ag retail locations in local communities across Saskatchewan.
“Our team is very excited to be part of the ProSoils’ family. The opportunity to have access to additional tools and resources will put us in a strong position to continue to serve our customers’ needs today and in the future. We look forward to growing together as part of the ProSoils’ team,” said Parker Summers, President and CEO of PSSL.
“This has been a few years in the making and the decision to partner with ProSoils was an easy one. Prairie Soils has been in business for 42 years and have had ProSoils as a customer at one time. Going forward, we are now the largest independent dealer in Saskatchewan with the possibilities of expansion and each location,” said Summers.
ProSoils is a family-owned independent agricultural retailer of crop input products and services in central and northeastern Saskatchewan. ProSoils’ agricultural retail operations were established in 2013 and grew out of the deep passion and connection to agriculture that developed from the Prosko family’s multi-generational farming business.
“The ProSoils team’s first-hand connection to farming keeps them keenly aware of the realities and opportunities involved in crop production in western Canada. Their entire team is passionate, energetic, and enthusiastic about agriculture. Our ag retail operations are located in Saskatchewan near the communities of Rose Valley, Lipton, Carragana (near Porcupine Plain), Langbank, Wawota, and Maryfield, and with the new acquisition of Prairie Soil Services Inc., now includes the communities of Norquay, Canora, Sturgis, Rokeby, and Kamsack,” stated Summers.
"Over the coming weeks, you’ll start to see subtle updates, such as refreshed signage, and you will have a chance to meet members of the ProSoils’ team at our upcoming Thank-A-Farmer Event on Aug. 6. We’ll continue to communicate any developments that affect you directly. Meanwhile, nothing is changing in how you contact us: Have questions now? Give us a call at 306-594-2330," said Summers.
"The customers of Prairie Soil Services Ltd. will continue to be served by the same staff that they have come to know and trust, with the benefit of being able to access significant operational support from ProSoils’ strength in logistics, procurement, and agronomy,” concluded Summers.
“We are very excited to welcome the Prairie Soil Services’ team and customers to the ProSoils’ family. We believe this growth opportunity provides many advantages for the customers of Prairie Soil and ProSoils. Both companies share a common philosophy that in agriculture, people do business with people. We will continue to invest in building strong customer relationships and serving local communities to ensure we are meeting the business needs of the farming communities where we live and work,” said Jeff Prosko, President of ProSoils.
