CN and CPKC Rail supplied a combined 84% of hopper cars ordered in grain week 40, a modest improvement from the 83% order fulfillment performance seen in week 39.
The Ag Transport Coalition says this represents the fifth consecutive week of improved performance and the best performance seen for the two railways combined in more than five months.
This also marks the first time since week 16 in November that both railways have reached the 80% order fulfillment threshold in the same week.
In supplying 80% of cars ordered by shippers in week 40, CN performance declined from the 86% order fulfillment performance seen the prior week.
Despite a decline in performance, this marks the third consecutive week that CN order fulfillment performance has reached or surpassed the 80% performance threshold.
CN performance remains below the 90% performance threshold for a forty-second straight week going back to week 51 of the prior grain year.
CPKC saw performance improve, with the railway supplying 88% of shipper orders in week 40, an improvement from the 78% order fulfillment performance seen in week39.
This represents CP’s best performance since week 16 in November and the first time the railway has posted order fulfillment performance of 80% or better since week 22 in early January.
CPKC performance remains below the 90% performance threshold for a twenty-fourth consecutive week.
