New farm equipment sales usually follow a cycle and it seems they are down right now.
Ben Voss has tracked equipment sales for years. He says the peak for new equipment sales was around 2021 and 2022 before declining the next two years. Companies announced layoffs over the past year as a result, but Voss says its not uncommon to see.
As Voss explained to Kevin Hursh of SaskAgToday.com, its not just softer commodity prices that has contributed to soft equipment sales.
