Kelvington Agricultural Society turns 100

The annual Kelvington Agricultural Society Fair was extra special this year.

It was the Ag Society’s centennial year, and president of the organization Greg Mottram says he’s not the only one who’s thrilled about the accomplishment.

“Pretty good for me but a lot for the people that started it, and they’re still around the watch it get this old, and they’re still active working in it,” Mottram said.

He says the work involved with putting the fair together every year is done by volunteers, adding the Ag Society wouldn’t be here without them.

“It starts for a good ten days to two weeks before to get everything ready and organized,” he said. “Then for four to five days after the fair is when everything’s put away properly and done.”

Mottram says this year’s fair was a success, calling it “fantastic”.

“Big crowds, big crowds, everything was great right from ball to food to horses to tractors to fireworks, everything was fantastic.” he said.

The Kelvington Fair was held August 4-6. It featured EPCCA Chariot and Chuckwagon races, a Co-Ed Slo-pitch Ball Tournament, Vintage Tractor Pull, a Car Show & Shine, and music from Jackie Guy.
