Canola crops looking good in the Parkland Region

Canola crops in the Parkland region are ahead of their normal development for this time of year.

That’s according to Canola Council of Canada Agronomy Specialist Warren Ward from Springside.

Ward says canola emerged quite quickly in the spring due to good moisture conditions and warm temperatures.  Ward says there are some signs of heat and moisture stress in some areas.

Environment Canada reported that June temperatures in Yorkton were the second warmest on record.

The mean temperature was 19.6 degrees, much higher than the normal mean temperature for June of 15.5 degrees.
